Mt. Carmel Family

Mt. Carmel Wellness and Community Center is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit owned by the community and is one of two non-profits under the management umbrella of Mt. Carmel of Colorado reporting through a board of managers up to the Board of Trustees.  The Board of Managers is a working board that has entrusted the day-to-day operations to six key employees.

Ed Griego

Ed was born and raised in Trinidad. He is a graduate of Trinidad State Junior College (A.A.S./Law Enforcement-1972). Ed is President and Co-Owner of Griego Insurance Agency, Inc., a family owned business established in 1975. Ed has served on several boards and commissions, including Trinidad City Council, Housing Authority of the City of Trinidad, Colorado Rights Commission, Trinidad Urban Renewal Authority, and board member of International Bank-Trinidad.

VICE CHAIR

Lucille Mattie

Lucille was born and raised in the Trinidad area, having graduated from Primero High School and Trinidad State Junior College in 1974 with an A.A.S degree in Data Processing. Lucille retired in 2020 from Century Savings and Loan Association after having worked there for 42 years, retiring as the Executive Vice President. She continues to serve on their board of directors. Lucille and her husband, Anthony, moved to Denver, Colorado in 2020 to be closer to their daughters. Lucille is a member of St. Gianna Beretta Molla Catholic Church in Denver and a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Conference at St. Gianna Beretta Molla as well as a member of the women’s group. She also volunteers as a lector and as a counter of the weekly mass collections.

Amanda Hamilton

Amanda was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. After spending some time in Hawaii and Virginia, she settled in Colorado Springs in 1999. While working full-time, Amanda earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with honors from CSU Pueblo in 2004. She has worked for non-profit organizations for over 20 years and currently serves as Executive Assistant to Gina Cimino, President of Mt. Carmel and Kip Hampden, LLLP. Amanda finds working for non-profits rewarding, knowing that her work behind the scenes makes a difference in the lives of those served.

 
 
Laura Aiello Profile Picture

Laura Aiello

Laura is from Wilmington, Delaware and graduated from The University of Delaware with a BA Degree. She settled in Colorado in 2005, bringing an extensive banking career of more than 25 years, of which the last 18 years have been in the Trinidad area. She currently operates 5Star Bank as the Branch Manager, Sr. Vice President in Trinidad. Laura has previously been involved with nonprofits in the area and served on the board of directors with Noah’s Ark. In addition to her dedication to her rescued animals, Laura and her husband, Garry, enjoy the outdoors, traveling and spending time with their family and grandchildren.

Sally A. Martinet

Sally is a native of Minnesota. She enlisted in the Marine Corps in February 1974. Throughout her 20 years in the Marine Corps, she obtained numerous awards and Military Occupational Specialties: Supply Administration (enlisted), Ground Supply Officer, and Formal Schools Instructor. After retiring from the Marine Corps in 1994, Sally and her family settled in Pueblo, Colorado, where for several years Sally served as Pueblo School District 70’s accountant. From 1997 to 2004, she served as a Professional Services Manager for BMI Systems Group until she started her own company in 2004, United Technology Solutions (UTS), for which she served as president. In this role, she was responsible for prioritizing and facilitating project implementation, timelines, goals, and deliverables for software implementation Fixed Asset inventories at over 100 school district sites throughout the United States. In 2020, Sally and her (late) husband Ken moved permanently to Trinidad, Colorado, where Ken was born and raised. Since then, she has been an active participant in the community as a member of Fisher’s Peak Community Church, American Legion - Post 11, Las Animas County Veterans Council, and a lifetime member of Woman Marine Association, as well as being involved in food distribution programs in Las Animas County.

Cy Michaels

Cy has operated numerous businesses in the Trinidad area for over 20 years. Currently, she operates the Trinidad La Quinta Inn & Suites and Tone Management, LLC. Cy is a graduate of Mike Monroney Aeronautical Academy and Cornell University. She is the Vice Chair of the City of Trinidad Tourism Board, Main Street Colorado Local Chapter and has been on several non-profit boards in the area. Cy is on the nationally elected Brand Council for the La Quinta Brand. She has received numerous local and national awards for leadership, hospitality and customer service.

Joanne Montero

Joanne is a life-long resident of Trinidad. She graduated from Trinidad High School and Trinidad State Junior College. After working for a private attorney in Trinidad for 12 years, she accepted a position as a judicial assistant for the Colorado Judicial Department. Joanne is currently the Clerk of the Court/Probate Registrar of the Las Animas County Combined Courts and celebrated her 35th anniversary with the Judicial Branch in December. In 2017, she received the Colorado Judicial Department Court Employee of the Year award from Chief Justice Nancy Rice.

Linda Perry

Linda, a Colorado native, is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder. She and her husband Tom came to the Trinidad area about 25 years ago to manage the Bar NI Ranch in Stonewall, focusing their time on environmental land and wildlife stewardship, livestock management, and guest services. After leaving ranch and lodge management, Linda has focused her time on working at Trinidad State Junior College serving as Executive Assistant to the President. She continues serving local non-profits including the Bar NI Ranch Community Fund, the Purgatoire Valley Foundation, and the Culebra Range Community Coalition through the Trinidad Water Festival and the Environmental Scholarship Program.

William D. Phillips

William, a native of Wisconsin, served in the U.S. Air Force, including a tour in Vietnam. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, he spent the next 27 years working in the engineering field. After retiring from Hewlett Packard as Director of Engineering in Colorado Springs, he and his wife moved to Trinidad. Here, they built and operated two successful national franchises. Though both franchises were sold in 2017, William and his wife continue to live in and be involved within the local Trinidad community. William is very involved with local nonprofit veteran organizations, serving as a board member of the Las Animas County (LAC) Veterans’ Council, Fort Wootton Veterans’ Memorial Square, American Legion Post 11, and the LAC Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America.

Renee Valentine

Renee was born and raised in Trinidad, Colorado, graduated from Trinidad High School, and chose to raise a family before she pursued her career. Renee and her family attended Mt. Carmel Church where she became involved with the environment committee, and she served on the fundraising committee for Mt. Carmel School. In 1987, she earned her EMT certification from Trinidad State Jr. College. She fell in love with being a first responder and continued her education by earning her Paramedic license from Pueblo Community College. Renee had a very fulfilling 10-year career with Trinidad Ambulance District. She also worked at Mt. San Rafael Hospital as a scrub tech in the OR. She then had an opportunity to start a new career where she discovered her passion in design. Renee enjoyed 18 years of employment with Danielson Designs as assistant to Annie Danielson, which developed into being a supervisor, art director, quality control, product and graphic designer for manufactured product and outsourced textile product, traveling to trade shows and participating in photo shoots for the company catalog. She was excited to take on a new challenge and contracted with Mt. Carmel Wellness & Community Center for two years as an event coordinator. Currently, Renee is a certified spin instructor with Mad Dogg Athletics, Inc. Her passion for health and wellbeing led her to become a small business owner of Spin Revolution.

Marcia Mitchell

Marcia joined the Mt. Carmel family in April 2019. She has a M.S. degree in accounting and over 15 years’ experience working with non-profit organizations in the Colorado Springs area including health care and science education organizations. Having recently completed the AICPA’s Not-for-Profit certificate program, she is excited about working with the team to strengthen systems and processes and develop a financial model for organizational sustainability. The daughter of a career Marine and Vietnam veteran, Marcia has lived on both coasts but decided to settle in beautiful Colorado 25 years ago after visiting it in a cross-country motorcycle trek. She loves to go on road trips and she tries to do something creative every day with paper and paint.

Founder

Gerald D. (Jay) Cimino In Memoriam

Jay Cimino was the founder of Mt. Carmel Health and Wellness Center; he was our benefactor and proudest supporter. 

Mr. Cimino passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024. We are honored to serve as part of his long-lasting legacy to the city of Trinidad.

Jay Cimino was born and raised in Trinidad, Colorado. After graduating from Holy Trinity Parochial School, he joined the Marine Corps and proudly completed his tour of duty. 

He then attended Trinidad State Junior College and transferred to the University of Denver, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. 

He was best known for developing a single dealership, Phil Long Ford, into the Phil Long Family of Dealerships, encompassing 19 dealerships spanning the Front Range from Raton, NM to Glenwood Springs, CO. He was also known for his philanthropy, which includes a broad spectrum of charitable organizations, needs, people, and causes. 

He founded the Trinidad Community Foundation, La Puerta de Colorado project, and Mt. Carmel of Colorado’s two nonprofits: Mt. Carmel Wellness & Community Center in Trinidad and Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center in Colorado Springs.

We honor his memory by continuing our service to the residents of Las Animas County.

Chair of the Board and Trustee

Gina M. Cimino

Gina M. Cimino is President and Broker of Kip Hampden, LLLP. She also serves as President of Mt. Carmel of Colorado as well as Chair of the Board and Trustee for the non-profit, which has two distinct centers - Mt. Carmel Wellness & Community Center in Trinidad and Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center in Colorado Springs. Being part of a philanthropic family has always inspired Gina to give back to her community. She has participated and volunteered in various activities including those by the National Charity League, Newborn Hope, Boys and Girls Club, Care and Share, and the National Cancer Society. She currently serves on El Pomar’s Southeast Regional Council. Gina is a Colorado native who attended Cheyenne Mountain High School and is a graduate of the University of Colorado.

Vice Chair of the Board and Trustee

Greg Garcia

Greg practices as a Senior Vice President/Investments for the Garcia Wealth Advisory Group at Stifel, Nicolaus & Company. For more than 30 years, in Colorado Springs, Greg has helped businesses and individuals set and attain financial goals. Concurrently, he has spent community time in leadership positions with nonprofit organizations helping them achieve their financial and operational goals and objectives. Greg says, “My goal in life is to leave my corner of the world in better shape than I found it while helping my friends and family along the way.”

 

Trustee

Tim Lamb

Tim has been General Counsel for the Phil Long Enterprise since December 2016. He graduated from Colorado State University with a B.A. in Business Administration/Accounting. Tim attended law school at the University of Denver and was licensed to practice law in Colorado at the U.S. District Court and the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in 1981. He was a private practice attorney for 35 years and has served on other boards in the past.

Terrance McWilliams

Terrence recently retired as the Vice President of Military Affairs for El Pomar Foundation in Colorado Springs. He serves on the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross - Pikes Peak Chapter, Southeast Armed Service YMCA, The Salvation Army Military Affairs Committee, and Operation TBI Freedom Advisory Board. He previously served on the Executive Advisory Board for the TriWest Healthcare Alliance and is a past board chair of Pikes Peak United Way and the Center for Nonprofit Excellence Board.

Dave Palenchar

Dave was raised in Southern California and first came to Colorado to attend the United States Air Force Academy. After a career in the Air Force, he returned to Colorado and joined the El Pomar program staff. In 2007, Dave was recognized as the Colorado Springs Citizen of the Year by the (then) Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce. He retired as El Pomar’s Chief Operating Officer in 2013. He currently serves as Vice Chairman of El Pomar Foundation, President & CEO of the Broadmoor World Arena and the Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts and Chairman of the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation.
